The team behind the revolutionary Climate Cover line of ground covers has been working hard on the latest addition to the range – a new flat sheet rain cover aimed at league clubs and schools on a budget. Durable yet lightweight, the new rain cover offers a simple solution to keeping cricket pitches dry.

Constructed from a semi-translucent material, the sheet has been designed to allow to light to reach the grass plant and enable photosynthesis. Weighing just 200gm the covers are robust enough for use on exposed areas yet light enough for easy handling and deployment by a single groundsman. With an expected lifespan of around 2-3 years, the new covers are simple to repair on-site using repair tape and come with easy-to-replace handles made from strapping and metal eyelets.

Costing just £297.00 + VAT for a single pitch cover, with a 10% discount available for NatWest Cricketforce member clubs, they represent excellent value for money for clubs that may not be able to stretch to an investment in one of the Climate Cover range’s more advanced systems. David Bates – MD at total-play Ltd, the company behind the Climate Cover products – explains:

“The Climate Cover range is designed by groundsmen, for groundsmen, with scientific input to ensure the latest materials are used. We’re always striving to ensure that our ground covers offer the best possible solution, and spotted room for improvement in our existing rain cover; which, in turn, led to the development of this entirely new product. We went right back to the drawing board to ensure that we are able to offer clubs a basic rain cover that balances quality with cost to represent real value. The result is a sheet that will be a great asset to clubs and schools on a budget, or for those who need multiple covers to protect several playing surfaces at any one time.”

The new flat sheet rain cover makes the range of solutions offered Climate Cover rage of pitch covers even more diverse; offering solutions for clubs ranging from grass roots to first-class. They include the Climate Cover System™ – the lightest, strongest, breathable ground cover system, as used at Lord’s, the Oval, Edgbaston, Gloucestershire and Glamorgan – the Total Growth Cover propagation and frost protection system, mobile pitch covers, raised covers and Solid Air domes.
