Experts in Artificial Cricket Pitch Design

total-play Ltd is a market leader in the design – and installation – of artificial cricket pitches. It has developed no less than SIX ECB approved artificial cricket pitch designs to offer clubs unrivalled choice. These artificial cricket pitch designs were developed by MD David Bates who, as a former professional cricketer and first class groundsman has a unique insight into cricket pitch performance. The company was also the first to become an ECB Code of Practice Installer and its team has vast experience of designing and building artificial cricket pitches for clients that include clubs from grass roots to first class and leading Independent Schools.

Our Considered Approach

Whether you’re investing in a class-leading ground cover solution or looking to install a new natural or artificial sports surface, you can rest assured the design process is based on the same rigorous principles. The aim is simple: to bring together the technical knowledge of materials and engineering with sound practical experience so that products and systems are built to the expectations and needs of our clients.

A History of Innovation

We take pride in our long history of innovation and product development. From launching the revolutionary Climate Cover System over 20 years ago to creating new methods in natural cricket pitch construction; developing a safer netting system in the form of ‘Protection Tunnel’ and bringing six new ECB Approved systems to the market, we continually review and evolve products to ensure they remain cutting edge.

Since the company started, we have forged exclusive partnerships with the best material suppliers; enabling us to stay ahead of the game and continually put forward new and exclusive designs and products.

The Appliance of Science

We believe designing and building sports surfaces properly takes an in-depth understanding of the on-site practicalities installation teams face. There’s no such thing as a ‘one size fits all’ solution.

This starts with a thorough assessment of the build site’s history, drainage capabilities, geology, hydrology, topography and local features; underpinned by a sound understating of soil mechanics and civil engineering. Based on site visits and discussion surrounding a client’s needs and budget, we put forward proposals that draw on the extensive technical and practical experience of our in-house team.

This means that each playing surface we install (or product we sell) is chosen based on its own merits and suitability to meet the client’s specific needs.

And it doesn’t stop there – every aspect of the build process and component selection is evaluated based on performance – right down to sourcing materials, which are selected not just on cost but how they perform and last. From assessing the local stone supply, fencing components, shock pads and carpet selection, the entire supply chain is considered and controlled by total-play. The installation process is managed just as meticulously; ensuring each project is completed safely, efficiently and to the required design tolerances.

In short, you can rest assured your project is in the hands of experts.
