Product Development Manager joins Total Play

21st June 2014

Sports surface specialist total-play Ltd has continued the ongoing expansion of its team with the appointment of Anthony Burton in the role of Product Development Manager.

Alongside providing design, construction and maintenance services for both natural and non-turf sports surfaces total-play has drawn on its sports turf expertise to develop a suite of grounds related products. These include the Climate Cover range of ground cover solutions, the ‘tp’ range of non-turf surfaces, including the company’s ECB Approved Pitch System, and the HD Protection Tunnel cricket netting system to name but a few. Anthony’s role will see him focus on developing sales of these and a host of other products available via the firm’s online store – www.thecricketgroudshop.co.uk. He will also work on developing sports turf business for the company in the North of England.

Anthony’s background makes him ideally placed to join the total-play team – a former cricketer who represented both Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Cricket Board he comes to the role fresh from a 17 year career in the Ministry of Defence, where he was responsible for administrating fitness and sports; most recently on behalf of the United States Visiting Forces. He says:

“Being part of an accomplished team has always been important to me and its already evident that’s what we have at total-play. Being the best in the field, leading by example and striving to supersede the standard is what I expect to be part of. I’m also really looking forward to getting out amongst those with a true love of cricket, to be able to help them and provide a friendly, down to earth and honest link to the best products and services available for the game. My background as a cricketer means I understand the commitments and sacrifices both club and cricketer need to be successful; including what products and facilities can effectively contribute to that success.”

Anthony’s appointment is part of an ongoing drive to grow the company’s workforce as its profile continues to rise not only in the field of cricket but an increasingly diverse product offering, as MD David Bates explains:

“We’re perhaps best known for our cricket expertise, with my background as a cricketer and former Northants CC head Groundsman, but we have the in-house skill to design, build, maintain and refurbish synthetic and fine turf surfaces for a host of sports – from winter games to tennis and even athletics. However, while expanding our offering we’re keen to retain our status as cricket pitch experts and thecricketgroundshop, with Anthony’s unique insight into the game behind it, is a key part of this strategy.”
